Each source requires a logical explanation of the path of funds and a report that is easily navigated. Funding from real estate sales and/or loans, gifts from family members, and income-based savings should have historical proof as well as a clear path to the United States investment. Occasionally the most applicable documents may not clearly support the client's position, whether due to name changes, difficulties in obtaining certified documents, or lack of clear tax reporting in their foreign country. We identify these weaknesses before client’s submission of Form I-526, and look for alternative approaches - avoiding the costly delay of having a source of funds report denied.
